The NoPaperManuals team is incredibly proud to announce the publication of our complete case study on SaaS Browser.
It's always a fascinating exercise to look effectively in the rearview mirror. Recently, James Andrews (Founder of SaaS Browser) asked me some sharp questions about the origins of NoPaperManuals, our growth strategies, and most importantly, our biggest failures.
Here is a summary of the key points we discussed. You can read the full, unfiltered interview directly on the SaaS Browser platform.
The interview goes back in detail to the "incident" that led to the creation of NoPaperManuals.
Picture this: 1,000 product boxes opened in a warehouse because of a single translation error in the printed German manual. Thousands of instructions thrown in the trash, urgently reprinted, and manually repackaged.
It was that night, sitting amidst that ecological and financial absurdity, that I realized how completely insane it was to lock static information on paper in the 21st century.
This "burn" is what pushed us to develop dynamic QR codes. The idea? Never let documentation be frozen again.
In this case study, I also confess the biggest mistake we made at launch: building for ourselves instead of building for the user.
❌ What Failed
We spent weeks coding extremely advanced analytics dashboards (bounce rates, time spent, device types). The result? Absolutely zero clients ever looked at them.
✅ What Worked
We deleted all that useless code to dedicate 100% of our engineering time to our AI Translation engine. That was the urgent pain of sellers who needed immediate European compliance.
The interview also covers our transition to a premium B2B positioning. Our early clients loved the technology, but they absolutely refused to send their end-customers to our domain name.
This is what pushed us to develop our massive White-label infrastructure, allowing brands to host manuals seamlessly on their own subdomains (e.g., support.yourbrand.com) with their complete visual identity.
